TOMOMI KATOは甲冑工匠加藤鞆美が手掛ける甲冑ブランドです。
親子３代で江戸甲冑の技法、伝統を紡ぐ甲冑工匠加藤鞆美。
近年の少子化問題やお節句離れが進む中、江戸甲冑という日本の大切な伝統工芸を守るべく時代の変化と共にその在り方を考え続けています。

TOMOMI KATO is an armor brand created by armor craftsman Tomomi Kato. Tomomi Kato, a three-generation armor craftsman who has passed on the techniques and traditions of Edo armor. In recent years, as the declining birthrate and the tendency to avoid seasonal festivals, we continue to think about how to preserve Edo armor, an important Japanese traditional craft, along with the changing times.

A new way to enjoy armor

今まで甲冑といえば「五月人形」「お節句飾り」
「日本特有」「男の子のもの」「子供のもの」という固定概念がありました。

しかしこれからは時期に囚われず、場所に囚われず、女の子も、大人も外国の方もみんなが楽しめてわくわくするものを提供したいと私たちは考えています。

Until now, armor has been stereotyped as "May dolls", "festival decorations", "unique to Japan", "boys" and "children's".

However, from now on, we would like to provide exciting things that girls, adults and foreigners can enjoy regardless of time or place.

全国にある博物館、展示会、神社、仏閣に足を運び実物の甲冑に触れ研究を重ねる。それにより得たことを糧に現代の素材、技術、技法を取り入れた。
京都府立文化博物館に納め展示されていた平治物語の絵巻・信西の場の立体復元の鎧武者7分の1縮尺の鎧は今もって製作することの出来る職人は、
まだ見当たらないほど精巧に作られている。

江戸甲冑の美しさを周知してもらうため、伝統的な形を残しつつ現代の技術や流行りを取り入れ、新商品開発や新たな製作方法を模索しアップデートしている。

父・美次と同じく18歳で甲冑士の世界へ入り、祖父と父の下で本格的に修行を始める。祖父、父が築き上げた技術を会得しつつ、
新たな風を吹き込もうとオンラインショップの開設、ホームページ制作、Instagramのアカウントを立ち上げるなど日々努力を重ねる。

三代目として加藤鞆美の名を継ぎ活躍中。

 At the age of 18, just like her father Miji, she entered the world of armor and began training in earnest under her grandfather and father.  While mastering the skills her grandfather and father built up, she continues her efforts every day, such as opening an online shop, creating a website, and launching an Instagram account to bring in a new wind.

 As the third generation, she is active under the name of Tomomi Kato.

甲冑工匠加藤鞆美の甲冑は実物の甲冑を参考に研究を重ね、サイズを縮小してもなお、その重厚さや力強い雰囲気を損なわず細部に至るまで忠実に再現している。
材料も金属、革、組紐、漆と多種多様なものを扱い使用している。

また、2019年にファッションブランド、ルイ・ヴィトンとコラボレーション。

加藤鞆美の制作した甲冑をルイ・ヴィトン特製のトランクに収めた「兜トランク」を発売した。

ルイ・ヴィトンとのコラボのため制作した特製の甲冑は縅(おどし)の柄がルイ・ヴィトンの「V」になるように逆沢瀉(さかおもだか)という縅(おどし)方法を用いて作られた。

甲冑工匠加藤鞆美の技術は親子３代に渡りしっかりと受け継がれている。

Armor craftsman Tomomi Kato's armor has been researched based on the actual armor, and even if it is reduced in size, it has been faithfully reproduced down to the smallest detail without losing its weight and powerful atmosphere.  A wide variety of materials such as metal, leather, braid, and lacquer are used.

 She also collaborated with fashion brand Louis Vuitton in 2019.

 She launched the “Kabuto Trunk,” a suitcase made by Tomomi Kato that is housed in a special Louis Vuitton trunk.

 The specially made armor produced for the collaboration with Louis Vuitton was made using the sakaomodaka method so that the pattern of the silk pattern resembles the Louis Vuitton "V". .  

Her armor craftsman Tomomi Kato's skills have been passed down to her parents and children for three generations.
